Metaverse and Financial Insurance Research Center of University of International Business and Economics officially established

On November 15, 2022, the 27th President’s Office Meeting of the University of International Business and Economics approved the establishment of the Research Center of Metaverse and Financial and Insurance.

The goal of the Research Center of Metaverse and Financial and Insurance at UIBE is to explore the path for the upgrade of the financial and insurance industry in the metaverse and promote the reform of the financial and insurance industry. It is aimed at the following things: setting a series of standards for the financial and insurance industry in the metaverse, conducting scientific research on the authentic right, transaction, and settlement of digital assets as well as digital equity transactions, researching financial insurance governance infrastructure standards and the digital economy standards (such as banking, insurance, loans, etc.), work on technical issues required for the development of financial and insurance industry in the Metaverse as well as a series of issues in finance, insurance, and law industry. The SIE invited Professor Cai Weide (currently Professor at Beihang University, Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, Distinguish Professor at Arizona State University, Vice President of the Metaverse Industry Professional Committee in the China Computer Industry Association, Dean of China Information Industry Blockchain Research Institute, Founder and Chief Scientist of the Metaverse Science and Technology Committee of Chinese Society For Science And Technology Journalism) to act as the Chief Scientist. The center hired Professor Cai Weide and Mr. Dongfang Yi as honorary directors.

The Research Center of Metaverse and Financial and Insurance at UIBE is committed to building itself into a leading center for consultation of policy and corporal issues, academic exchange center, and innovative practices in the field of finance and insurance in China. The center plans to issue a series of research reports, and set standards on the digital economy, financial and insurance standards such as NFR, to contribute to the theory and practice of the Metaverse.
