The School of Insurance and Economics attaches great importance to the ability and academic skills of teachers. Teachers of the SIE have solid academic skills and sound academic background. Most of the teachers are quite young and vigorous. Currently, there are 65 members of the faculty of SIE, including 51 full-time teachers (12 professors, 26 associate professors, and 13 lecturers) and 14 staff managing the Party and administrative affairs. There are 26 full-time teachers in the Department of Risk Management and Insurance, 9 full-time teachers in the Department of Labor Economics and Social Security, and 16 full-time teachers in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. The SIE has 22 teachers who have overseas study experience, accounting for 43.13% of the full-time teachers. 74.5% of the teachers are associate professors or professors. Teachers under the age of 45 account for 67%.

The SIE has cultivated a number of high-level scholars and outstanding young and middle-aged scholars. There are quite a number of Changjiang Young Scholars, Cultural Masters as well as Four Kinds of First Batch talents, one Huiyuan Outstanding Scholar, one Huiyuan Outstanding young scholar, and four Huiyuan Excellent young scholars. The teachers of SIE have a strong influence in the insurance industry as well as in society. They have a variety of social appointments, such as Member of the CPPCC National Committee, advisory expert of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, Executive Director of Asia Pacific of Risk and Insurance Association, Executive director of the China Social Insurance Association, Consulting Experts for the National Healthcare Security Administration of The People’s Republic of China, Experts of social security and aging services for the Asian Development Bank. Apart from that, the SIE has also invited over 100 famous scholars and experts in insurance to be part-time professors.
