The main work of the China Research Institute for Risk Management and Insurance is as follows:
1. Focus on national risk research areas
Taking advantage of the existing research superiority and its deep cooperation with China Export Credit Insurance Corporation, the institute focuses on national risk research. Members of the Institute all participated in the press conference of 2021 National Risk Analysis Report organized by China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation, and keep dynamic tracking of research progress in relevant fields at home and abroad.
2. Pay attention to China's overseas interests security and actively undertake related research tasks.
In recent years, with the quickening pace of our enterprises’ “Going out”, the expansion of our overseas interests has been obviously accelerated, and the scale of overseas investment, institutions and personnel has been continuously expanded as well. China's overseas investment has a sizable amount with a long investment return cycle, making it highly vulnerable to terrorism risk in the host country. Once a terrorist attack occurs in the host country and affects Chinese investment projects, it will cause enormous losses to Chinese investment enterprises. Terrorism risk management has a strong professionalism. Research in this area is still relatively lagging behind in China's academia, and the research on terrorism risk rating from the perspective of China is close to blank.
In this context, entrusted by China Property Reinsurance Co., LTD., the Institute undertook the research task of 2021 Overseas State Terrorism Risk Study. Based on the establishment of evaluation index system, this project will build a rating model through machine learning method to rate the terrorism risk of countries along the "Belt and Road", which can fill up the gap of related theoretical research to some extent.
The research of this subject will play a positive role in enhancing the academic influence of schools, colleges and research institutes in related fields. At present, the two sides of the project have signed the agreement. The total project fund of the project is 250,000 yuan, and the first fund (150,000 yuan) will be received recently.
3. Establish regular academic activities such as weekly meetings.
A number of small-scale academic conferences and medium-sized conferences were held during the year, and general manager Li Rui and Dr. Zhang Yi-tong from China Property Reinsurance Co., Ltd. were invited to attend.
4. Achieve the organic combination of scientific research and talent cultivation
Relying on research projects, the Chinese Research Center for Risk Management and Insurance has better promoted talent cultivation and improved its quality. In the process of participating in the research project, Dr. Sun Ying, Dr. Duan Na and other students have significantly exercised their academic capabilities and improved their academic level, which highlighted the outstanding talent cultivation outcomes of the institute.
