Research Center for Meta-Universe and Finance and Insurance

The University of International Business and Economics established the Research Center for Social Security and Corporate Finance on November 15, 2022, hoping to draw on the achievements of the information revolution, Internet revolution, artificial intelligence revolution, and virtual reality technology revolution such as VR, AR, MR, and digital technology to enrich the transformation mode of digital economy and integrate the achievements of digital finance and insurance such as DeFi, IPFS, and NFT to help the meta-universe to insurance application scenarios.

The significance of metaverse and financial insurance research center of University of International Business and Economics is to

1.Determine a series of metaverse financial insurance standards, a series of scientific research activities such as digital asset validation, trading, settlement and digital equity trading, research metaverse financial insurance governance infrastructure standards, and research digital economy (e.g. banking, insurance, loan) standards.

2.To explore the series of technical aspects needed for the development of metaverse and finance and insurance, as well as the series of financial, insurance and legal issues.

The goal of the Research Center for Metaverse and Finance and Insurance of the University of International Business and Economics is to explore the path of upgrading the metaverse of the finance and insurance industry and to promote the reform of the finance and insurance industry.

The Center is committed to building into a top policy and industry consulting center, academic exchange center, and innovation practice center in the field of finance and insurance in China. The Center intends to introduce a series of digital economy, financial insurance standards such as NFR, a series of industrial research reports, and contribute to the theory and practice of metaverse.

The research directions of Metaverse and Financial Insurance Research Center of University of International Business and Economics include but not limited to:

1.Meta-universe financial and insurance standards;

2.Metaverse insurance, insurance smart contracts, and infrastructure;

3.New digital economy insurance processes;

4.Insurance prediction machines, and insurance event models;

5.Machine learning, big data analysis and privacy computing;

6.Digital asset validation, trading, and settlement;

7.Meta-universe risk management.

Chief Scientist: Weide Cai (currently Professor at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, and Honorary Professor at Arizona State University, USA; received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA in 1979, and his M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of California, Berkeley, USA in 1985. He is the Vice President of the Metaverse Industry Committee of the China Computer Industry Association, the President of the Blockchain Research Institute of China Information Community, the initiator and Chief Scientist of the Metaverse Technology Committee of the China Society for Science and Technology Journalism, the Senior Researcher of the Institute of Rule of Law of Industry and Information Technology, the Chief Scientist of the National Engineering and Technology Research Center for Science and Technology Resources Sharing Services, the Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee of the China OSS He is also a senior researcher of the Institute of Industrial and Information Technology, the chief scientist of the National Research Center for Science and Technology Resources Sharing Services, the vice chairman of the expert committee of China OSS Promotion Union, the executive director and expert member of China Cloud System Alliance, the director of the Blockchain Internet Laboratory of the National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Pilot Zone, the senior researcher of the China Enterprise and Development Research Institute, the honorary director of the Blockchain Research Institute of Sadie (Qingdao), and the scientific advisor of the Blockchain Research Center of University College London. Professor Cai Weide has published more than 600 papers and 8 books and publications.
